Simple Mutton Curry/ Mutton Thokku/ Goat Curry

Mutton is a meat of Goat and Lamb.It is the most healthy meat that also cools our body and also makes our internal organs flexible. But in same time it has cholesterol,so it will take some time to digest.

Now let us know the recipe for easy Mutton curry ,it is almost like an one pot cuttyand easy to prepare.

Total Time : 30 mins

Ingredients :

* Mutton – 3/4 kg

*Onions – 2 (medium size)

*Tomato – 1 (Big size)

*Green Chilli – 1 (as per your spice level)

*Curry leaves – 2 strings

*Coriander leaves or Cilantro – 1/2 hand

* Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tblsp

*Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tblsp

*Coriander Powder – 1 tblsp

*Cumin Powder – 1/2 tblsp

*Pepper Powder – 1/2 tblsp

*Chilli Powder – 1/2 tblsp

*Garamasala Powder – 1/4 tblsp

*Homemade Curry powder or Mutton Masala – 1 tblsp

*Salt to taste

*Water as needed (1 cup is more than enough as mutton also oozes out water while cooking).

To Fry :

*Ghee – 1 or 2 tblsp

*Cinnamon Sticks – 2

*Bay leaves – 2

*Star Anise – 1

*Kalpaasi – 1 or 2

*Cloves – 2

* Elachi – 1

* Fennel Seeds – 1/4 tblsp

*Cumin Seeds – 1/4 tblsp

*Curry leaves – 1 string

*Coriander leaves or Cilantro – 1/2 hand

*Pepper Powder -1/2 tblsp.

Preparation Instructions :

1. In a cooker add the cleaned and washed mutton and water.

2.Then add roughly chopped onions,tomatoes,green chilli,curry leaves,cilantro,ginger garlic paste,turmeric powder,coriander powder,cumin powder,chilli powder,pepper powder,garamasala,Homemade curry powder or Mutton masala,salt and let cook for 5 whistles in high flame and 6th whistle medium flame.

3.Heat a frying pan or pot,add ghee and the seasoning ingredients mentioned above.

4.Then add the cooked (pressure released) mutton and add the pepper powder,curry leaves and cilantro and let it boil.

5.After few minutes or upto the curry consistency that you needed, switch off the stove.

6.Ready to serve.

3. Add salt to it.

4.Add turmeric powder.

5.Add Curry leaves.

6.Add Green chilli and Cilantro.

7.Add ginger garlic paste.

8.Add coriander powder.

9.Add cumin powder.

10.Add pepper powder.

11.Add garamasala powder.


12.Add homemade curry powder

or mutton masala.


13.Close the lid let it cook for 5 whistles

in high flame 6th flame in medium.


14.Heat a frying pan or pot and

add ghee .


15.Add the seasoning ingredients

mentioned above.


16.Then add the cooked mutton

into it.

17.Add some pepper powder,curry leaves

and cilantro for garnishing and

fresh flavour.

18.After few minutes or upto the

curry consistency that you

needed switch off the stove.

19.Ready to serve.

Note of the dish :

1. Minimum amount of water is more than enough, because the mutton itself oozes out required amount of water to cook.

2. We can add onions and tomatoes as per our curry quantity needed and half the amount of tomato than onions will be good.

3. Ghee we are using will help to reduce the muttton smell,if you are not fan of the smell.

4. Adding pepper powder finally is,to enhance the taste of the dish.
